Welcome to Martin's Framing & Gallery
Welcome to Martin's Framing and Gallery, a well established business offering a friendly service based in Abergavenny, the Gateway to Wales. Housed in the old police station in Baker Street, it is easy to find and open Tuesday to Saturday, 9.30 to 5.30.
In July 2005, Martin Fletcher started up a bespoke picture framing business in the Old Police Station in Baker Street, Abergavenny (Martin’s Framing & Gallery) which has gone from strength to strength due to high quality workmanship and friendly customer advice. In September of the same year Martin added a small gallery for local professional artists to exhibit their work. Martin’s aim was to create a gallery with a friendly atmosphere and high quality professional artwork from the local professional artists if possible. He wanted the local public to be able to look at and be able to purchase top artwork without the need to travel to Cardiff, Bristol or even Bath.
Since opening, the gallery has become well known throughout the area and indeed the U.K. for exhibiting fine artwork. The gallery has exhibited work from some of the top artists out of Scotland, The Midlands, London and not forgetting our very own Wales.

One of the very first artists that exhibited at the gallery from day one was Goff Danter. I believe Goff foresaw the potential of the gallery from the very beginning. It is well known now that Martin and Goff have become firm friends, with Martin also becoming Goff’s agent. Goff has gone from strength to strength and his original work is collected throughout the world.
We feel that now we have established ourselves as a gallery that exhibits some of the best artwork found in Monmouthshire or indeed South Wales. The only way to verify this claim is to pay us a visit. The aim of the gallery in the future is to bring art to our customers from throughout the UK and further afield if possible.
In September 2009 the framing workshop employed a part time assistant to train in the workshop. This has been a great success. Hopefully this has put something back into the community by employing a local person. Earlier this year it became obvious that the we had out grown both the gallery and workshop, at this time we contemplated a move to new premises at this point we had a stroke of luck my landlord offered us the three adjacent rooms which we readily agreed.

We have refurbished the new gallery and extended the old gallery as part of our workshop.
The new gallery will open to the public with a Mixed Christmas Exhibition on Saturday the 4Th December with some of the top artists from around the U.K.
Peter Howson OBE , as profiled on BBC 4 on the 25th November 2010, John Bellany, Peploe, Cadell all from Scotland. We will be introducing Michael Barnfather from Derbyshire, Mike Hatcher from the Midlands,
Wales will be represented with favourite Goff Danter, Haydn Gear, Peter Seabourne, Pembrokeshire Artist Chris Prosser
Up and coming artists Michael Giddins from Rochdale , Our own Helena Jay , Jane Pritchard from Stratford and local girl Julia Menzies.
So come and have a look at the exhibition, you’ll always get a warm welcome from Martin.
The gallery is open
Tuesday to Saturday 9.30am – 5.00pm each week.
If you are in town, why not call in and browse at your leisure, everyone is given a warm welcome as Martin likes nothing better than the light hearted banter he often shares with his customers.
This is a direct contrast to many art galleries where the atmosphere can often be stuffy, formal and uninviting.
Martin feels that the 'Art' experience should be enjoyed, whether you are looking for bespoke framing, advice and guidance on available originals and prints or even just taking in the pleasure of the paintings.
The gallery shows the work of some of Wales top professional artists including John Knapp Fisher and Goff Danter. You will find some rare one off originals by some collectable artists plus limited edition Giclee prints and more besides.
